Here's what we love about Blink Fitness

As part of the Equinox family, we are confident that their services and amenities are unparalleled. We appreciate the positive, go-getter mentality that the brand embodies.

  • Fresh, well-maintained, and uniform equipment. It resembles a contemporary gym that offers top-notch services.

  • Affordable rates begin at just $17 per month for access to a single location, while a membership covering 92 locations is available for $30 per month.

  • A fantastic website! It provides concise and direct information regarding pricing, available amenities, photos, and even details on their cancellation policies.

Here are the things we wish Blink Fitness would improve

While Blink Fitness certainly meets the majority of its members' needs, there are still a handful of improvements we hope to see.

  • There are absolutely no swimming or water features at Blink locations. You won't find any saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs, or swimming pools in any of their facilities.

  • Only three of our locations offer childcare services. If you're a busy parent looking for some extra help while you exercise, Blink may not be your ideal choice.

  • Tanning and massage services were available options. It's worth noting that other gyms within this monthly price range also provide these amenities.

How much does it cost to join Blink Fitness?

Blink Fitness offers a straightforward membership structure with three primary options (and a fourth, which we’ll discuss soon) that remain consistent across the nation. Here’s a breakdown of the offerings:

  • The "Orange" membership ranges from $17 to $22 per month and provides access to a single location with a 12-month contract, usually requiring a $40 join fee.
  • The "Blue" membership is priced at $30 per month, grants access to around 92 locations across the country, and does not require a contract, coming with a $20 join fee. Members can also utilize the Blink Fitness workout app and enjoy unlimited guest privileges.
  • The "Green" membership, costing $41 per month, allows access to all 100 locations, which is the only distinction from the "Blue" option, and has a promotional $1 join fee.

Additionally, there’s an annual fee of $59, billed in the second month and subsequently on that same date each year. It’s worth noting that they prorate your bill for the month you join, so the initial payment is not as steep, and you don’t have to cover your final month’s dues like at other gyms.

Pro tip: You can save $2 each month by opting for checking account billing instead of credit card billing.

Now, regarding the fourth membership option, the "Gray" membership, it’s a pricier choice at $45 per month and is exclusively available in select Manhattan locations—54th, Grand Central, FiDi, Chelsea, Murray Hill, East Village, Bryant Park, and Noho. The main advantage of this option is that it’s a no-contract membership, with no significant additional perks compared to the "Green" membership.

  • The yearly fee is $59, which will be billed on the third day of your second month. After that, the same amount will be charged annually on your anniversary date.
  • The joining fee varies from just $1, currently available for the "Green" membership promo, to $20 for the mid-tier "Blue" membership, and goes up to $40 for the basic "Orange" membership option.

Additional info about

Final thoughts โ€” Is worth it?

Blink Fitness is a relatively recent entrant in the U.S. fitness scene, backed by years of experience from its parent company, Equinox. Since launching its franchising opportunities in 2022, the number of gyms across the country has soared to over 100 locations. This value-oriented chain fosters an inclusive atmosphere, proudly displaying the slogan: "belong to the gym for every body." It positions itself as a direct rival to Planet Fitness, known for its "No Judgement Zone." This healthy competition is beneficial, as it gives consumers a broader range of options. Beginners, those new to the fitness world, and even people who may feel hesitant about working out in public will likely find comfort in the welcoming vibes of both of these chains.

When we refer to it as a value-focused gym, we mean that Blink provides a straightforward set of amenities. Members can access all the essentials: free weights, bench areas, weight machines, treadmills, stretching zones, and locker rooms. These fundamental features are ideal for anyone seeking a solid workout, and much like Planet Fitness, Blink is tailor-made for beginners or those seeking a simple gym membership without the extra frills.

However, amenities like swimming pools, saunas, and steam rooms are not part of Blink's offerings; individuals seeking those extras will need to explore mid-tier gym chains. The same goes for activities such as basketball, pickleball, tanning, and more—these options are not available to Blink's members. It’s important to note that many individuals appreciate this streamlined approach. So, is joining Blink worth it? Absolutely, if those additional services aren’t crucial to your fitness plan.

In terms of pricing, many Blink locations charge between $17 to $22 per month for access to a single gym. While this is slightly higher than Planet Fitness prices, which often include massage and tanning services, Blink does offer some unique perks. These include:

  • Amazon Locker Access (available at five locations) – allows convenient pickup of your packages during workouts.
  • Towel service (available at over 12 locations) – a feature that's become rare in the fitness industry.

Keep in mind that these special features are primarily found in and around New York City, so members at other Blink locations in Texas, Florida, California, and beyond might not have access to them.

Overall, Blink Fitness is a fresh, friendly option in the gym landscape. While they are not the cheapest on the market, their straightforward services and positive atmosphere make them competitive. With 60 locations in areas like the Bronx, Long Island, and Manhattan, Blink offers New Yorkers a compelling fitness choice.
