Here's what we love about O2 Fitness

This popular gym chain, cherished by residents in North and South Carolina, stands out for its community focus and high-quality atmosphere, making it ideal for busy families. Each of their locations provides convenient childcare services to accommodate parents' needs!

  • Discover a 21-day free trial pass that allows you to explore a nearby gym location. This is the longest trial period available compared to other gym chains we've researched, as most only offer options of 3 or 7 days.

  • Large fitness centers typically span around 30,000 square feet. In contrast, many of the more budget-friendly gym chains range from 15,000 to 20,000 square feet.

  • We offer a diverse range of group fitness classes, including Les Mills programs, cycling sessions, strength training, and fitness options tailored for seniors. These varied choices provide our members with exciting and beneficial additions to their workout routines.

Here are the things we wish O2 Fitness would improve

The majority of people are likely to be satisfied with what 02 Fitness has to offer. However, there are certainly a few aspects we would consider adjusting.

  • Many of their fitness centers are of the high-end Signature type, such as their recently opened location in Durham.

  • Swimming is not available at any o2 Fitness locations; instead, you'll find saunas and steam rooms as your sole water-based amenities.

  • Membership pricing was straightforward on their website. However, it's important to note that online membership purchases are not available.

How much does it cost to join O2 Fitness?

No worries! These things happen occasionally. Unfortunately, the O2 website doesn't provide membership pricing online. We'll reach out via call, email, or text to get you the information as soon as possible.

Here's the latest: To find out about pricing, you'll need to call in. According to a helpful representative from O2 Signature in Morrisville, North Carolina, the details are as follows:

  • "Choice" Membership for $74/month (access to a single location)
  • "Premier" Membership for $84/month (access to all locations)

There’s an initiation fee of $99 for month-to-month memberships, while it's $44 for a 12-month commitment and $20 for a 24-month commitment. There is a one-time annual fee of $49.

Additionally, you'll have full access to all amenities regardless of whether you choose the "Choice" or "Premier" memberships, with no extra charges. This includes:

  • Various free weights and equipment
  • Cardio machines like ellipticals, treadmills, and StairMasters
  • Functional training areas with turf, sleds, kettlebells, etc.
  • Group fitness and cycling classes

Update 2: We attempted to contact their Raleigh, Brier Creek location, but no one answered.

Update 3: A call to their Holly Springs Towne Center location also went to voicemail.

Update 4: Finally, we reached out to the Racine location in Wilmington and got the following prices:

  • $64/month for single club access
  • $74/month for the "Choice" Membership (allows access to Racine and Independence)
  • $84/month for the "Premier" Membership (access to all O2 Fitness locations)

You have up-to-date information as of October 2023.

  • The yearly membership fee at O2 Fitness is $49, and billing occurs 30 days after your membership begins.
  • The initiation fee varies based on the length of your membership. For a month-to-month plan without a contract, it’s $99. If you choose a 12-month membership, the fee is reduced to $44, and for a 24-month option, it costs only $20. However, there’s currently a promotion available that lowers this fee to $0.

Additional info about

Final thoughts โ€” Is worth it?

O2 Fitness gyms are spacious, well-lit, and equipped with a variety of features that set them apart. As a comprehensive fitness brand, they serve the Carolinas with 15 upscale facilities. One of their standout offerings is childcare, along with saunas, which are available in most of their locations, making it a worthwhile option for many parents. Additionally, while a few clubs offer steam rooms and massage services, they are not widely available across the chain.

However, in terms of amenities, O2 falls short compared to other fitness chains, lacking facilities such as pools, basketball courts, tanning beds, and even 24-hour access. They also don’t feature popular sports options like pickleball, racquetball, squash, or tennis, which could disappoint some members.

On the positive side, O2 Fitness prides itself on providing an upscale atmosphere. Their gyms showcase advanced equipment, expansive turf areas, and modern workout tools like bikes and rowers. They also offer unlimited studio fitness classes, including options for mind-body and cycling workouts. It's evident that their clubs have a fresh, modern, and sophisticated look.

When it comes to pricing, prospective members can't sign up online or view current rates upfront, which means a phone call is necessary. After reaching out to four locations, we discovered the following rates: a "Choice" membership for single-location access ranges from $64 to $74 per month, while the "Premier" membership, which grants access to all clubs, is priced at $84 per month. Importantly, all memberships come with full access to facilities, ensuring no amenities are restricted by membership level.
