Amenities offered at Snap Fitness

Snap Fitness prides themselves with their fitness approach "We're here to help you feel fantastic 24/7." And it's that last portion—their 24-hour-a-day workout ability—that really sets them apart.

  • 24/7 gym access means you have a digital card to 'beep' you into the facility—much like a hotel key card
  • Late night hours at locations are unstaffed, but you can keep going doing your thing
  • 24/7 CCTV Security cameras and panic buttons for member safety
  • Worldwide gym access comes standard with the membership, that means workouts in Australia, Canada, India, Philippines, Turkey and the UK are all good.

Inside the (USA) locations, their clubs do include the standard package of gym equipment that users have said are a bit close/tight to eachother. It's something we do kind of expect with generally smaller sized gyms. What you can expect to workout with:

  • Free weights and adjustable benches
  • Cardio machines of various sorts (StairMasters, treadmills, ellipticals)
  • Strength machines to isolate and target different muscles
  • Kettle bells, yoga mats and stretching equipment are dependent on the location

However, there are a few things you definitely won't see at Snap Fitness: pools, saunas, steam rooms or basketball courts. Same goes for hot tubs and towel service. If those things important to you, we'd look at 24 Hour Fitness or some Crunch locations that also have 24-hour-a-day access.

Here's what we love about Snap Fitness

Community-sized gyms offer a more intimate setting, allowing for quick access and efficient workouts. We appreciate that these smaller facilities can be found in numerous locations, including rural areas across the country.

  • Enjoy round-the-clock access! This gym stands out as one of the few that proudly offers workouts at any hour of the day. When it comes to flexibility, it's just Snap and Anytime.

  • There are numerous options available for you! With more than 500 gyms scattered across the United States, they rank among the top five companies for gym locations. Chances are, there's one conveniently located near you.

  • Typically, these locations are smaller than 20,000 square feet and often found in strip malls or compact shopping areas. This setup can offer convenience for those looking for a quick and efficient workout experience.

Here are the things we wish Snap Fitness would improve

The majority of people are likely satisfied with the range of services available at Blink Fitness. However, we certainly have a few suggestions for improvement.

  • The costs of Snap Fitness memberships can be quite steep. Monthly fees start at a reasonable $39.95 but can soar to an eye-popping $99.99, making it a significant investment.

  • Their membership pricing seems to follow a consistent pattern, which might not seem significant at first glance. However, it's a bit disheartening to realize that a similar Snap Fitness location just a few miles away could offer lower rates.

  • Many of our readers have expressed a strong desire for Snap Fitness to incorporate saunas into their facilities. Even simple, single-person infrared saunas are becoming increasingly accessible and popular.

How much does it cost to join Snap Fitness?

We appreciate gym chains that maintain clarity and organization, and Snap stands out in this regard. They primarily offer one straightforward membership type*:

  • Month-To-Month Membership ranging from $39.95 to $99.99 per month. This grants you access to just one location, and like any standard gym membership, you’ll have access to basic cardio equipment (like treadmills, elliptical machines, and StairMasters), in addition to strength machines and free weights.

There are no long-term contracts associated with their month-to-month memberships, and we noted that there is no annual fee mentioned, which is definitely a plus. The upfront fees vary between $1 to $124, and there don't appear to be any ongoing promotions at this time. Since this is a franchise-based gym chain, pricing can differ significantly from one location to another. Here’s a breakdown of the gyms we examined along with their respective pricing:

  • Jersey City - $99.99 with a $1 Upfront Fee
  • San Marino, California - $60 with an $85 Upfront Fee
  • Chicago, Illinois - $49.95 with an $84.95 Upfront Fee
  • Richardson, Texas - $44.95 with a $49 Upfront Fee
  • Tampa, Florida - $39.95 with a $35 Upfront Fee
  • *Half Moon Bay, California - $60 with an $89 Upfront Fee. This location uniquely offers a deal for two individuals at $99 or three for $129.

You are trained on data up to October 2023.

  • In our review of five different online sign-up processes, we found no reference to an annual fee. It's important to keep in mind that Snap Fitness operates as a franchise, meaning that each location sets its own charges—or lack thereof.
  • Snap Fitness has offered upfront fees as low as $1 at its New Jersey location; however, these fees typically range higher. For example, you can expect to pay around $35 in Tampa, Florida, $49 in Richardson, Texas, $85 in Los Angeles, and $124 in Redwood City, near San Francisco.

Final thoughts โ€” Is worth it?

Here’s what we know about 24/7 gyms. First, there are two major players in the market: Anytime Fitness and Snap Fitness. They certainly ask for a hefty fee for their memberships. Additionally, you won’t find many extra amenities at these gyms. Their straightforward approach could be a great match for your needs. If you’re satisfied with just the basics, why pay for extras you won’t use? Features like pools, saunas, basketball courts, and childcare might just be unnecessary frills for you. If round-the-clock access is essential, both Snap and Anytime can meet that requirement. However, given the significant differences in their pricing across the country, it’s a good idea to explore your options. Other gyms, like 24 Hour Fitness, Crunch, Gold's, and EoS, also offer 24/7 access.
