It's worth noting that their website isn't fully clear on which exact locations have specific amenities. We've had to flip through their various Facebook and Instagram pages to get the information on this page.

Central California boasts a "local" gym that genuinely embodies the spirit of its surrounding communities. Established from the ground up, this fitness center offers residents in Fresno, Gilroy, Hanford, Los Banos, Modesto, and Stockton a welcoming space they can proudly claim as their own.
A genuine Central California fitness center, this gym is part of a smaller chain with only 15 locations.
Affordable membership options are available, with many priced at just $29.99 per month, granting you access to numerous nearby facilities.
Introducing a bootcamp package available for just $69.99 per month, which includes Group Fitness sessions, Bootcamp classes, and online workout options.
Although Valley Fitness is a great choice for numerous members, there are still a few areas for improvement. Here’s what we suggest they could enhance.
Unfortunately, tanning beds, saunas, and steam rooms are not available at any of their locations. However, national gym chains in the vicinity might provide these amenities at a more affordable price.
We can't help but hope that some of their locations feature a pool. In the warm and scorching regions of central California, a pool is truly a refreshing addition. (To be precise: their individual gym websites don’t provide clear information on whether pools are available. For now, we classify them as not having one.)
Only a couple out of their 15 gyms feature turf. Furthermore, the information on their individual gym pages is unclear regarding the availability of this amenity, so we have marked it as not available.
Valley Fitness gyms offer two types of memberships to suit your needs. The "Basic" membership starts at just $29.99/month (with the Stockton location priced at $39.99/month). This option provides you with unlimited access to select nearby locations—11 out of 15 at the Fresno-Herndon gym. Plus, you'll enjoy unlimited use of the massage chairs and a complimentary 2-week bootcamp trial. As expected, all memberships grant you access to standard cardio equipment (like ellipticals, StairMasters, and treadmills), along with strength machines, free weights, barbells, kettlebells, and more.
For those seeking a more comprehensive experience, the "Lifestyle" membership is available for $69.00/month, offering access to all gym locations statewide. This plan includes all the benefits of the Basic membership, but also adds group fitness classes, monthly progress tracking, and online workout options.
Both membership types operate on a month-to-month basis without long-term contracts, with an annual fee of $39 charged 60 days after enrollment. The Basic membership currently has an enrollment fee of only $1 (possibly part of a promotion), though you'll need to pay your last month's dues upfront. The Lifestyle membership comes with a $49 enrollment fee but does not require an upfront payment for the last month's dues. Note that all information is accurate as of October 2023.

Valley Fitness gyms are community-focused and resonate well with the locals they cater to. While we appreciate their grassroots approach, it's evident they still face some challenges typical of a growing business. Compared to larger chains, their facilities may not possess the same polished, upscale vibe; some of their gyms are characterized by a simple concrete-and-mat aesthetic, especially in their bootcamp sessions that prioritize hard work and determination. Many will find this straightforward style appealing, and there’s definitely a charm in being built from the ground up at Valley.
When it comes to pricing, larger chains have the upper hand due to their extensive resources, allowing them to offer much lower membership fees than Valley can manage. Speaking of membership, Valley offers two tiers: Basic and Lifestyle. The main distinction lies in the inclusion of Bootcamp programs—group workout classes that utilize HIIT (high-intensity interval training) as a workout framework. If you enjoy working out in a team setting, engaging in functional movements, or focusing on bodyweight exercises, this is perfect for you. Compared to national chains like Barry's Bootcamp and F45, which can charge upwards of $30 per session, Valley provides a great alternative.
This is where Valley truly excels. While they maintain the traditional gym setup with all the essential strength and cardio equipment, their bootcamp offerings provide exceptional value. Just attending one class a month could justify the cost, and when paired with their standard gym amenities, the Lifestyle package becomes a fantastic investment.
However, it's important to note that Valley doesn't offer extras such as a swimming pool, sauna, basketball court, or childcare. This leads to a discussion about a gym's true "worth." While national chains might provide more services, equipment, and amenities at competitive prices, you might miss out on the Bootcamp experience and the sense of community that comes with it. Plus, by choosing Valley, you’re supporting a local business that connects with those who share your city.
In summary, we consider the Basic membership a decent option, but opting for the Lifestyle membership indeed makes Valley Fitness an excellent choice.
